CAT BLOOD DONORS URGENTLY NEEDED
We are currently treating a two year old Siamese cat called Thai and desperately need cat blood donors to help with his treatment.
Thai's bone marrow has effectively 'switched off' and isn't producing any red blood cells - Pure red cell aplasia.
We are giving Thai treatment which could take up to 12 weeks in an attempt to allow his bone marrow to recover and start working. In the meantime he will need periodic blood transfusions to keep him going.
Our staff have kindly used their own cats so far but we are now running out of donors.
The donors must be young (under 7 years old), quiet temperament and large.
We will need to conduct a blood type test (Thai is type A) and viral test on all donors prior to the donation. Donation will be on an as and when needed basis so availability is important as is your ability to transport your pet to our Altrincham surgery.
